The 90’s was eponymous for minimalism, grunge chic, neutral tones and a 70's revival. Alaia’s 1990 collection reflects the themes of the era:
Office chic — pinstripe tailored suits. Monochrome — black, grey tones. Mini skirts + gloves and tights.
Bright cobalt blue suede, tones of blue / green — sage green, knit ribbed textures.
Prints in bright colors.
Layering boat neck knits over mini dresses. Headbands and cat liner, before it became popularized and reintroduced by Prada in 2020.
Bodycon, well fitted gowns.
Lace fabric and beautiful silhouettes.
